GNU/Linux Security: Linux House vs Microsoft House

Here's another very good article: "GNU/Linux Security: Linux House vs Microsoft House". It explains the basic differences between security in Windows and security in Linux. This explanation reminds me of the tale of the Three Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. Windows is the pig with the straw house and Linux is the pig with the brick house.

Debunking Some Linux Myths

The article "Debunking Some Linux Myths" does an excellent job of destroying some of the myths propagated by opponents of the operating system. I would recommend reading the article if you are interested in Linux, but you have picked up a bad impression of it.

January 2009 NILUG Meeting

The first 2009 meeting of the North Idaho Linux Users Group will be held on Saturday, 10 January at the River of Life Friends Church in Post Falls. The meeting will start at 1 pm. The meeting is free to all and the regular members willingly answer questions for novices. This is a great time to bring that Christmas computer to the meeting and let us help you install Linux on it, an operating system with none of the instabilities, insecurities or disappointments of the operating system the computer probably came with.

There is no fixed topic for this meeting, and refreshments will be available. If you have anything you want to learn about Linux, bring your questions to the meeting and we will try to answer them.
